Yes… At least for 6 out of 10 people that think hotel prices in France are too expensive or even unreasonable.
In a general way, everything is often too expensive and the hotel business is no exception ; this is the conclusion of a study done by Coach Omnium, a study company specialized in hotel business and tourism. This study was led in June 2010 on 1088 hotel clients from France and abroad.

As of the end of July 2010, 42 hotels in Paris are now rated according to the new hotels’ standards, eighteen 5 star hotels, nine 4 star hotels, thirteen 3 star hotels and two 2 star hotels.

When we read or hear the comments made by Parisian hotels clients, one of the most pointed out comment is about the size of the room. Whether it is in a 2 star hotel or a 4 star facility, it is quite common to read the room was small or even too small. Yes, the rooms in Paris’ hotels are small, well at least smaller than elsewhere since from a hotel to the next with the same category, it will be quite similar.
Why?

Hervé Novelli announced this week new signs used to indicate the rank of a hotel, a hotel showing the new sign indicates that it is therefore classified according to new hotel standards. Anecdotally, the blue octagonal panel currently in place had not changed since 1986.
